white weather in Charlottenburg

After days of hearing lamentations surrounding the lack of scenic precipitation, namely snow, in the Erzgebirge (the aesthetically pleasing ancestral home region of my beloved wife) I returned today to supposedly ugly and drab Berlin. And alas, we have been provided with a light helping of said precipitation in the last three hours or so. This is quite pleasing to me -- not just because it serves as a palpable I-Told-You-So -- but also because I have seen little such weather in the past several years (Texas) and it is quite simply put, pretty. While I did not leave the apartment for a mid-afternoon frolic, I did observe some merry-making; a young girl at one point made an icy projectile from the accumulated powder on an automobile's hood. Somewhat later two young ruffians braved the slippery conditions to ignite some pre-New Year's celebratory explosives in the back courtyard. I ran for my camera in order to capture the mad glee for posterity (and to turn the two trouble-makers in to the police) but unfortunately they were gone before I returned.
